Our Commitment

Christmas on Main of Lamar is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We believe everyone should be able to experience the wonder of our Christmas tradition — online and in downtown Lamar — and we are continually working to improve that experience for every visitor, regardless of how they access our site.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a single fix. As Christmas on Main grows and adds new pages, photos, and features throughout each Christmas season, we revisit this work regularly rather than treating it as a one-time project.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They establish three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Christmas on Main is working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across christmasonmain.org.

We use a combination of automated scanning tools and manual review to identify accessibility barriers, and we prioritize fixes based on how significantly they affect a visitor's ability to use the site. Some content may not yet fully meet the highest accessibility standards — this is common on nonprofit and small-business websites that rely on third-party page builders, embedded forms, and payment platforms not entirely within our direct control. We are actively working with our development team to identify and correct these gaps.

Accessibility Features on This Site

Visitors can use the accessibility widget available on every page (usually found as a floating icon in the corner of the screen) to adjust settings such as:

• Text size and spacing
• Color contrast and display modes
• Link and heading highlighting
• Keyboard navigation support

We have also worked to ensure proper heading structure, descriptive alternative text for meaningful images, keyboard-accessible navigation, and sufficient color contrast across our color palette.

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some parts of christmasonmain.org may not yet be fully accessible. Known limitation categories include:

• Some older photographs and graphics may be missing complete alternative text descriptions.
• Some interactive elements provided by third-party plugins (event registration, donation processing, and payment forms) may not fully support all assistive technologies.
• Some decorative animations may not yet fully respect reduced-motion preferences on every page.
